The corporate worship experiences at Southwood Baptist Church are a fundamental part of our total church life. It is the desire of all those who serve in this ministry to lead God's people into His presence each week. The tools that are used of the Lord - preaching, music, drama, testimonies, banners, video - are all just the means to allow God to speak to us through the Holy Spirit.
Music is the most natural expression of Christian joy. It has been said that wherever the name of Jesus has been received, He has placed a song in the hearts of the people. Praise God, Southwood is a singing church!
The Worship Ministry is a multi-faceted organization that involves people of all ages. It is our goal to encourage and enable everyone to understand and actively participate in worship acceptable to God. We desire to have a ministry comprised of people who desire to live a lifestyle of worship, and seek to live in obedience to God and His Word by using their gifts in His service.
Preaching
Ministry
The preaching ministry at Southwood flows from several deep convictions. These are based upon the belief that the Bible is the infallible word of God and is relevant to the culture we live in. Led by the Holy Spirit of God, our Senior Pastor prepares messages from the Bible which seek to bring life-changing experiences to those seeking Christ and to those who seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Celebration Choir
This exciting group leads the body in worship each Sunday morning and in special music and drama events throughout the year. They are regularly challenged to be more than a chorale, but rather a dynamic worship leadership team. The choir is open to all adults, age 18 and above.
Children's
Choirs
We have a dedicated team of adults who take seriously the task of nurturing the souls, hearts, and minds of children through music. By using music that solidly communicates Biblical principles, we seek to teach children about God and His church. Seasonal musicals and musical presentations in worship services allow the children to share what they have learned with the church family.
Instrumental
There are opportunities available for those who play a musical instrument to use their ability to praise the Lord. Whether you desire to be a part of our regular team of worship instrumentalists, or you just want to play from time to time, your gifts and talents are welcome.
