"All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods,
they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.
And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
Acts 2:44-47
Southwood
Baptist Church is a body of believers that worships the Lord and cares about
each other. To make sure the needs of our people are met, we organize by age
groupings. Centered around Sunday School classes, age group ministries also
provide personal support, outreach, and opportunities for service within and
beyond the church. Whether it's welcoming a new baby or attending a memorial
service, planning a mission project or just a friendly phone call, members and
pastors work together to ensure worship, fellowship, companionship, education
and support.
Ministry
to Preschool
The Preschool Ministry of Southwood Baptist Church is dedicated to meeting the needs of the entire family. It is our desire that every parent feel comfortable with the loving care and attention their child receives while in our facility. Our infants and preschoolers deserve the best. They are important to Jesus; therefore they are important to us.
The Preschool Ministry works with expectant and new parents as well as children from birth through kindergarten. Our goal is to lay a strong foundation of love for God and Christian values. Classes for new and expectant parents, parental dedications, Sunday School, Mother's Day Out, and Vacation Bible School are just some of the ways the Preschool Ministry reaches out to our members, our neighbors and their small children.
Ministry
to Children
As children grow, and through their critical early school years, the Ministry to Children helps them learn more about the Bible and Christian living. Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, summer activities and other special learning opportunities reach out to children and their families. A strong emphasis of the Children's Ministry is to anticipate children's questions about God and to lead them to make their profession of faith in Christ, while providing a foundation for a lifetime of Christian growth and maturity.
It is the desire of "Crosspoint" Student
Ministry that each student find a place to belong and an environment to grow in
the Christian life. This ministry has been built around the God-given principles
found in Acts 2. They help
give
clarity, purpose and direction to why we exist and what we need to be about. We
express our purpose in this statement: "CROSSPOINT"
exists to REACH (Evangelism) non-believing students, to help them SHARE
(Discipleship) in God's Word, to OFFER (Worship) themselves in SERVICE
(Ministry) to Christ, and to CARE
(Fellowship) for one another. These five purpose areas provide a basis for our
ever-growing ministries and programs designed to meet the everyday needs of
students. Sunday School, summer camps, mission trips, sports and other
activities are all designed to meet the spiritual needs of today's student.
College
& Career Ministry
The Apex College & Career Ministry reaches out to students in Tulsa and those who are away at school. Bible studies during the week and on Sunday serve as an anchor for local students as well as Southwood members when they are home for vacation. By partnering with the local Baptist Collegiate Ministries, we are able to extend our impact upon college students to the entire Tulsa Metro area.
Ministry to Single Adults
The Southwood Singles Ministry aims to meet
the needs of singles of all ages. Recognizing the different interests of various
age groups, the ministry supports Sunday School, Bible study classes, support
groups and other activities. Social events, mission opportunities, and
recreation are all opportunities for our members and guests to develop their
personal relationship with Christ.

Ministry to Married Adults
The challenges of Christian living for couples and families are addressed by the Ministry to Married Adults. In addition to opportunities for worship, Sunday School, Bible study and fellowship, this ministry conducts classes, retreats and other special programs to encourage spiritual development and to strengthen families. Specifically, Southwood participates in the HomeBuilders Couples Series which seeks to build better marriages through small group Bible study and encouragement. Our active Mom's Ministry especially reaches out to provide support to expectant mothers and families with young children.
Senior
Adult Ministry
Senior adults find opportunities for worship, service, study and companionship in the Senior Adult Ministry of Southwood. In addition to Sunday School, Bible studies and a rich array of special activities, this ministry attends to the special needs of this age group. The Home-Bound Ministry also provides a lifeline of contact for those physically unable to attend our services.
Media Library
The Southwood Media Library provides a resource of ministry through books, videos, audio tapes and other materials on a wealth of subjects - theology, biography, fiction and an outstanding children's section. A knowledgeable and helpful staff is eager to help library visitors find materials that will meet their specific, individual needs.
