"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding."

Sunday Morning
Bible study is the bedrock of discipleship training at Southwood Baptist Church. Each Sunday, hundreds of people of all ages gather in Sunday School to study the Word of God and apply it to their daily lives. Our preschoolers learn in Sunday School through games, song, videos, learning centers and creative play. We also offer Extended Session for children aged birth through three years old, so that mom and dad may freely worship. Our children's Sunday School classes are grade-based, with small group dynamics where children are challenged to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus through hands on teaching as well as continuous feeding of the word. Our grade-based youth classes offer dynamic Bible study that addresses issues unique to students. Our adult Sunday School ministry is organized into four distinct areas of focus and ministry: Young Adults (engaged couples - parents with children in 6th grade), Median Adults (parents with children in 7th grade - empty nest), Senior Adults (couples beyond the empty nest season of life), Single Adults (inclusive of all singles out of high school to senior adults).
Sunday
Evening
Sunday evening offers a specialized approach to discipleship for all ages. Bible Boot Camp offers children aged four to sixth grade a fun and exciting way to read through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It also challenges families to memorize scripture which will provide wisdom and direction for a lifetime.
Our Crosspoint Student Ministry focuses on "CrossTraining" on Sunday evenings. These specialized short term discipleship studies enable students to get spiritually fit for the journey ahead.
Discipleship College is a program of classes designed to educate and enrich the full life experience of an adult Christian. It offers short-term classes in various subject tracks such as Bible Study, Leadership, Support Groups, Family Relationships, Issues, Spiritual Growth, or Missions. Classes are taught by lay leaders, pastoral staff and special guests.
Weekday
The church is the meeting place for other Bible study groups through the week as well. Groups of men and women, adults and youth have regular study times throughout the days and into the evenings. Wednesday evening is an important time in the life of the church. Along with the Pastor's Bible study and prayer meeting, members come for choir rehearsals, missions activities, committee meetings, discipleship classes, and community support groups. KIDMO offers an exciting way for school-aged children to come to an understanding of the Great Commission through various activities, games and Bible studies.
Special Events
In addition to these weekly opportunities for discipleship, Southwood Baptist Church offers a variety of special events to help members become more like Jesus Christ. Through specialized retreats, camps, and training, members of all ages are challenged to never stop growing as a follower of Jesus Christ.
